The seven crow bros by secondlina The seven crow bros by secondlina
Illustration of the fairy tale “The Seven crow brothers”

Epic crow bros helping out their sister while she tries to save them. And there’s a cute prince.

EDIT : Actually inspired by a version of the seven swans with crows I read as a kid. After a few comments I re-checked on google, and it seems the version of the story with ravens actually had 12 brothers, as the 7 crows by Grimm seems to be quite different.

Smashing interpretation. I love the leaf vest.
I'm working on a series of modern fairy tales, and one of them is partially based off this story. In it, the princess' brothers become crows and the princes' sisters become swans.

That sounds like it would be fun to draw.

By all means, you have my blessing. Just so you know, the princess in my story has Downs syndrome, and the prince has Tourette's. Clever huh?)

There are actually two Grimms tales in which the brothers are turned into ravens--one is called "The Twelve Brothers" which includes the prince--then there's "The Seven Ravens" in which there is no prince--but there is a brave sister who comes to undo her brothers' curse.
Then of course there is the "Six Swans."--that one's probably the best known one of the three involving cursed brothers as birds and brave sisters.

This is adorable--I love how you snuck all the little ravens in there.

Checked after your comment - you're totally right! I should have re-read the tales before drawing. Oh well. Still cute. Thanks for the input.

The one I know is actually the six swans, told with crows. I honestly believe someone mixed the three in the book I read as a kid. Either way, crows. They be cool.

I knew them as geese, but it doesn't really change the beauty of the story, or your art for that matter.

Most people seem to know the swan/geese version, but my version of the story had crows. Pretty much all the versions follow about the same story.

Sound and looks a lot like a story I loved as a child, except they were swans not crows

There's different versions of the story. One with crows, and one with swans. Both are essentially the same. I prefer the crows.
