Snegurochka is a snow maiden myth from Russia who likes to hang out with Ded Moroz (aka badass Santa) and Father Frost. She’s been inspiration to Andrew Lang and Tchaikovsky, hands down some of my favorite guys.  In a lot of tales using this character, she melts. Either by being bold and daring, or by falling in love (and thus her heart warms up and causes her body to melt). I decided to go with the fall in love version because, as you all know, characters with magical heart issues are kinda my jam. Especially if they still love folks without restraint despite those magical issues.   I felt her tale wasn’t so sad, but more of a metaphor for Spring, as love is often associated with the season of Spring. So her falling in love and disappearing is part of the cycle of seasons, and next year, she’ll return, and fall in love all over again, to bring forth the next Spring. It’s a poetic notion, I find.
