I decided to draw a few fanarts that kinda blend the book universe and the movie universe. In the book universe, all the teen vikings had a dragon to train. They had their own special dragon. So I decided to kinda give them all one :

Astrid doesn't exist in the books, but the girl from the books, Camikazi, as Stormfly, a Mood-Dragon, Mood-Dragons change colour in different moods. Snotloud was pretty much the only viking with his dragon fromt he book. Fireworm is Snotlout's Monstrous nightmare. He's pretty cocky.

I read the books before, I think you captured Snotlout and fireworm great with that punk attitude!

I think Astrid and Camicazi are nothing a like and that the directors want to replace the idea of Camicazi with a different blond girl by giving the dragon her name, but not the character herself. They're just too different to even compare and I think the directors were going for a different character entirely, not a replacement. Camicazi could still show up!

Did you see The Gift of the Night Fury? You were right about Stormfly, but as far as I could tell, no one got any of the dragon names right except for Astrid's.

I did see GOTNF (even though this piece of art is way, way old) and it does seem to confirm that Astrid is basically Camicazi. :D

Well, not really. Astrid and Camicazi are two WAY different people. Astrid's all serious and tactical, and I haven't read the books yet (just one :( ), but Camicazi is more of a playful person, no? If I read the book, I'll probably be able to back this up more, but they really are very different.

But yes, this proves that Astrid's based off of Camicazi.

How ironic. In the new "Gift of the Night Fury," Astrid does indeed name her Nadder "Stormfly." But a Mood Dragon would be cool to see.

I love this pic! Though I'm not too sure, but Stormfly MIGHT be smaller than in the picture. I just love Stormfly! who doesn't love a dragon who changes colors? :XD: You did a great job!
