Hummm I guess? I like tragic too. I'd say i'm more of a logical ending type of person. If it's good or bad, it needs to feel like the end of a buildup in a story. I strongly dislike happy or sad endings that feel like they just got added on to a story to add drama or satisfy readers. It needs to come from a logical buildup in the story.

okay, I realized midway through rereading Namesake that if it ends on a sad note I would be be destroyed. And I had a random thought of 'what if Isa and Meg are sad ending type of people or a main-character-becomes-a-martyr really not happy but the good guys win and are now grieving ending type of people?' I realized that if one of main characters died tragically and then it ended (or if they died at all) I could possibly get really sick (aka depression will come back) because I am so invested in these characters. So, I thought I better find out now if you guys are the type of people that would do that for the sake of literature or personal tastes. Sorry to bother ya

Naw. Ultimately, Namesake will have a satisfying and pleasing ending, I think. Not gonna lie, the "final battle" chapters are a bit rough, but trust in Emma and the gang, they are the types that never give up. And we won't give up on them either. We would not destroy them just for cheap drama. These guys are fighters.
